Outdoor Research built its reputation in technical outdoor gear, particularly hats, gaiters and gloves. The founder and president, Ron Gregg, lost his life in an avalanche while on a backcountry ski trip in British Columbia. Ron’s family was not involved in operating the business and wished to sell it to a new operator.
Zachary Scott was engaged to conduct a buyer search and negotiate a sale of the business.
OR was sold to the family investment company DNG, Inc. who continued to produce technical outdoor gear and apparel.
